Windows 7 (seven)

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

windows_seven Windows 7 (previously codenamed Blackcomb, then Vienna) is scheduled to be the next major client version of Microsoft Windows, expected to be the successor of Windows Vista. Sources indicate that Windows 7 should be finished in the second half of 2009. The client versions of Windows 7 will ship in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, even though the server counterpart (which will succeed Windows Server 2008) will be exclusively 64-bit.

Microsoft is maintaining a policy of silence concerning discussion of plans and aspirations for Windows 7 as they focus on the release and marketing of Windows Vista, though some early details of various core operating system features have emerged. As a result, very little is known about the feature set, though public presentations from company officials have disseminated information about some features.

The video you are about to watch might be fake. I just wanted to share it. Enjoy!

Wow, was that IE11 in the video? Amazing how it looks sooo similar to IE7. I wonder what happened in the 3 versions before that?

Other than that, among other things I don’t find worth believing:

    a) MSN Messenger 12 - It’s now ‘WLM’ and MSN Messenger died awhile ago.
    b) Windows HD Player - Why not just have Media Player (which I love!)do HD? Instead of renaming the whole thing.
    c) It looks more like an outdated Windows. If you look at the icons.
    d) Explorer looks amazingly like the same thing in the WinFS demo. Though I think Microsoft would have given a more better polish than this.
    e) There’s no 3 iconic buttons near the top right of the window.

That’s the most obvious thing that shows that we’re not looking at the real thing here.

    Also look at the date.

    Sunday December 15th

Lets see the last time the 15th in December was a Sunday was in 2002. And the next one isn’t for a number of years.

Theres that and then the fact that anyone who has actually seen Windows 7 boot up can tell you that the loading screen in the first picture is all wrong.

Yes, that’s true guys. this is what made all people see it as a fake. it is really fake and obvious to know.

Pretty bad fake too! Shouldn’t the last image have “Please Wait…” instead of “Please What…”.

  6. Woody on January 23rd, 2008

@jim, yes its pretty funny that the people didn’t know how to fake it :D

And amazingly the codename for this release (looking at the last picture, btm right on the desktop)is ‘longhorn’… wait a minute…

  8. Nihk on January 23rd, 2008

    lol, shouldn’t it be:
    Windows Seven (Codename [Something else])
    Build ####

    not
    Windows Code Name Seven
    Build 7001 (Longhorn)

    stupid fakers

    1. In the top right pic, the error message says “Windows Seven Error Code…”, funny way to fake to include Version/Codename in error dialogs.

    2. In the top right pic, date is Sun, Oct 28. Incidentally Oct 28, 2007 is a Sun.

    3. The top right image alone displays Sun, Oct 28. Rest of the images display Sun, Dec 15.

    4. The top right image alone displays “Seven” in “Windows Code Name Seven”. For the rest it is “Windows Code Name 7″.

    5. In all images, the windows version is 7. Not the codename. Code name should have been blackcomb/vienna.

Look good at the build number.

    You will notice many things:
    No (R) or (TM) text.
If if comes from technet: The words “For testing purposes only” and “Lab” are always included.
If it is send to partners: The words “Evaluation copy” and “winmain” are usually included in milestones and alpha’s. Later versions drop the winmain.

Lol. The (Longhorn) had me in stitches. The codename for Vista was Longhorn. And he uses it like a build tag.

He’s stupid to waste his time.

    Here’s how the tag goes.
    Microsoft® Windows® Codename
For Testing Purposes Only. Build ..-
